Direct Support Professionals: A Realistic Job Preview

This eighteen minute video gives people thinking about a position as a direct support professional (DSP) balanced information about what being a DSP is like. It illustrates the real, everyday work of direct support professionals, including both the successes and challenges. It includes DSP’s giving first-person stories and advice for people considering becoming a DSP. After watching the video, people should be able to make a more-informed choice about whether this job is for them.

This video was produced for the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division of the New Mexico Health Care Authority by the University of Minnesota's Institute on Community Integration in partnership with the University of New Mexico's Center for Development and Disability.
