Introduction to Guardianship
Participants in this course will gain the following skills:
- Be able to identify alternatives to guardianship and understand why it is important that an individual remains as the decision-maker.
- Learn about the guardianship legal process including important terms, types of guardianship, values, and actions associated with guardianship and the court.
- Learn the responsibilities of being a guardian: who is qualified, the expectations of a guardian, reporting requirements, and the complaint process.
- Be able to identify different decision-making principles and recognize how these principles apply not only to protected persons, but the impact decision-making has on our lives, family members and other people we may know.
