Duty of Care and Dignity of Risk: Values Rights and Power in the Lives of People with IDD

In this course, we’ll:

  • Define and examine definitions of risk, dignity, and duty of care.
  • Provide and explore case examples of how DoR plays out in clinical situations.
  • Explore the history of thought on DoR.
  • Examine how DoR fits into the cycle of education and human rights.
  • Discuss a potential model for the application of DoR/DoC decision making.
  • Examine how Covid-related changes have affected our system in these areas of philosophy and practice.
