Title: Autism Self-Study
Description: This course is presented for adult service
providers and offers an overview of autism through use of a handbook and video
(video can be borrowed from the CDD LINC program, or loaned from a Department of
Health regional office.)

Title: Introduction to Autism
Description: This presentation provides and introduction
to autism spectrum disorders and briefly defines the disorder, outlines
diagnostic information, and provides information on characteristics which
define the disorder.

Title: Autism in the Family
Description: This training is for families of persons who
have been recently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. It will
discuss how it affects the entire family and their community, as well as
characteristics and their impact, to better support the child.

Title: An Insight Into Autism Spectrum Disorders
Description: This training is for families of persons with
autism who have been diagnosed with autism at least 2 years previously. It
discusses the key impact of autism on the family and ways to support your
family members.

Title: Navigating the Service Delivery System
Description: This presentation is for families of persons
with autism and focuses on understanding the many facets of the service
delivery system, including SSI, DD waiver, private insurance, Medicaid,
and schools.

Description: This training provides information on
prevalence, cause, diagnostic information, cultural perspective,

"Understanding" training and will provide and overview of the

"Foundations I" training and will provide an overview of the key

Description: This presentation is designed to follow the

Picture Exchange Communication System for young children with autism
spectrum disorders or older children who are non-verbal.

which help to engage persons with ASD.

Description: This presentation provides information on why
and how to include visual schedules into the life of a persons with autism
spectrum disorders, and illustrates examples of schedules.

Description: This presentation provides information
about setting up routines, use of visual supports, and adapting the
physical environment to help people with autism spectrum disorders
understand what is expected of them.

Description: This presentation provides an opportunity to make and take
visual supports for persons with autism. Please bring the foundation materials
to make the schedule, activity, communication system, etc. There will
be a Autism Program facilistator to assist in
developing supports, and basic office supplies (stapler, tape, glue, paper,
clips, glue guns, etc.)

Title: Behavior Overview
Description: This presentation provides information about
the general characteristics of autism and defines behavior characteristics
in more depth. The presentation also provides some suggestions which may
be of assistance in supporting the challenging behavior of persons with
autism spectrum disorders.

Title: An Overview of PRT-Pivotal Response Training
Description: This training provides information on Pivotal
Response Training for children with autism spectrum disorders who are
higher functioning.

Description: This presentation will provide information
on autism and the behavior characteristics of autism. It will provide
basic behavior management techniques training, as well as how these

Description: This training will provide information on how
to measure the change in behavior that can be seen in persons with autism

Description: This presentation will provide information on
the importance of focus on the social activities that a person with autism
spectrum disorder has the opportunity to participate in. Suggested
supports and activities will be outlined.

Description: This presentation is a video workshop presented by Carol
Gray, the person who developed Social Stories. The training provides information
on social understanding in ASD with step-by-step instructions in the development
of social stories (workbook included). A Autism Program

Short Presentations: Autism Programs offers 1-2 hour presentations
that provide a general overview of autism spectrum disorders to a specific
group.
Annual Lectures: One or two-day lectures are provided annually
which bring in nationally recognized speakers in the field of Autism Spectrum
Disorders. The Horn series is offered every other year and has a focus
on adult populations of persons with autism spectrum disorders. Please

Pre-Service Courses: Training is offered to colleges and
universities for classes needing information on autism spectrum disorders.
Courses have been taught through the departments of: Special Education,
Communication Disorders, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Occupational
Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, Family Studies, and through the Medical
School.
Continuing Ed. Coursework: Autism Programs has provided and
will continue to provide coursework opportunities through college continuing
education departments to provide information regarding autism spectrum
disorders.
