What is CDD REACH?

REACH was established in 2003 as a central telehealth outreach program for the CDD to connect and provide service for rural, frontier, and underserved areas around New Mexico. The program delivers distance education, clinical services, consultation, training and technical assistance using interactive video conferencing, telecommunication and other web-based technologies.

For more Information on the REACH Telehealth Program, contact the REACH team at (505) 272 - 3844, or email HSC-ReachCDD@salud.unm.edu

CDD REACH supports telehealth outreach throughout the state by:

  • Coordinating video conferences to connect with communities around New Mexico, in order to provide access to quality care for families and children with special health care needs in previously underserved areas.
  • Facilitating the connection of families and clients to developmental care and early intervention service providers not available in their areas.
  • Supporting training and continuing education for health and developmental service providers specializing in developmental disabilities and pediatrics.

CDD REACH provides access to health care providers, children with disabilities and their families

In a large frontier state like New Mexico, CDD programs have continued to rely on the REACH (Rural Early Access to Children's Health) telehealth program to maintain a high level of service provision.  It has continued to facilitate outreach to the far corners of our state with its under-served populations. This year 28 out of NMs 33 counties were served by telehealth. CDD REACH also facilitates out-of-state and international events.  Although the number of events, using video-conferencing, Skype, and webinars, decreased by 4% to 349 since last years report (362 events), the number of participants increased substantially from 4797 to 6057 (26% increase).

CDD REACH uses multiple telehealth formats, from one-on-one direct consultation to multi-day, multi-site, and in-depth specialty training in the following areas:

  • Direct Service & Case Consultations
  • Developmental Pediatrics
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Psychology and Infant Mental Health
  • Speech and Language Pathology
  • Counseling
  • Pediatric Nutrition
  • Early intervention specialists
