Guidelines
- This thesaurus is a developing
document covering the realm of human development and disability
within the entire lifespan, starting with childhood.
- Descriptors such as Disabilities,
Development and Rehabilitation are general terms used primarily
for books and materials that provide an overview or cover
many aspects of a given subject. Scope notes (sn:) are given
for most descriptors to define the meaning and range of
use of a term.
- Users are advised to pay attention
to other markings that appear before a term such as: bt
(broader term), nt (narrower term), rt (related term, u
(use), and uf (use for) for most effective searching.
- This thesaurus is being developed
with both the lay and the professional or technical user
in mind. Brevity, common usage, and clarity are important
factors in the selection of descriptors and terms. For example:
Keratoconjunctivitis sicca
U Dry eye
