Improving Systems

The CDD has been an active participant in developing and improving family support policy in New Mexico and nationally.

In New Mexico:

ON-GOING POLICY ADVOCACY:

Advisory Council on Quality Supports for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Their Families (ACQ) – The CDD is represented by Family and Community Partnerships Director, Tanya Baker-McCue who represents the needs of families as the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division develops and implements policy.

Mi Via Stakeholder Group – The CDD helped guide the development of New Mexico’s self-directed waiver through sharing experiences with Self-Directed Family Supports and continues to participate in the state-wide stakeholder group.

Families As Partners – The CDD is represented on the UNM Children’s Hospital advisory group by Family and Community Partnerships Director, Tanya Baker-McCue, and Family Specialist, Elisa Sanchez-Wilkinson. They have worked to make families equal partners in the medical care for their children.

Nationally:

Consensus Statement on Family Support – The CDD has been participating with the Beach Center on Disability and other national partners to gain policy support for the needs of families with a son or daughter with a disability.
