Pueblo Connections

WHAT WE DO

What does Project Pueblo Connections offer?

  • Family Support Center in each of the four Pueblos. Families can meet with representatives from state agencies, as well as obtain resource information and advocacy from the Family Resource Specialist.
  • Easy access to resource and service information.
  • Support and assistance that is sensitive to the culture, customs and beliefs of the individual Pueblos.
  • A network of agencies and programs statewide that is ready to meet the needs of Indian families.
  • Family Support Grants for families needing financial assistance to meet specific needs of their family member with a disability.

What are Family Councils? Each of the four Pueblos has a Family Planning Council that guides implementation of all aspects of the Family Support Centers in their Pueblo. Members of the Family Council are members of the community who have a family member with a disability, or are themselves an individual with a disability. Each Family Council meets monthly to discuss the needs of people with disabilities in their community.

Family Support Group Families from Cochiti, Jemez, Santa Ana and Zia who have a child with a disability are able to participate in a support group that meets every other Thursday at Five Sandoval Indian Pueblo, Inc. facility. Dinner is provided for the entire family and child care is available. The support group enables families to meet and share with other families.
