This course follows the Center for Development and Disability (CDD) DISCUSS Model.  Participants will be given topics and online information throughout the duration of the online course. In addition, registered participants will receive a packet in the mail containing additional readings and forms that will be used in this course.

The Entire Judy Case, discussion sections and additional readings will be inside the mailed packet.  Each section contains a series of worksheets.  Participants will be divided into small groups to discuss the different sections.  Every participant will be asked to moderate their own section (Judy case discussion) as well as visit other discussion rooms and derive a different look at the Judy case.

During this course, you will asked to read articles, review case studies, respond to power point lectures and other interactive activities. Throughout all, you will be asked to participate in on line discussions with your fellow participants. You will be guided in your discussions by your on line facilitators.

All discussions will occur in the Virtual Conference Center. This conference center, designed especially for this course, allows participants to discuss specific details of presented cases and to share their own personal experiences. This password protected conference center is open only to registered participants of this course. You will be required to enter using your password; again, this is to insure that discussions occur in a free and open manner.

Facilitators will be on line daily to respond to questions, answer questions with additional questions or to suggest resources for further information. Given the online format of this course, it is expected that if participants require further information, this will be easily found on the internet. Please don’t feel, however, that you are limited to the internet. Resources may include the teacher down the hall who has experience with a particular challenging behavior, a parent that you have worked with or a child who is able to articulate his experiences with a variety of interventions.
