As Project Director, Pat is responsible for overall project administration
and curriculum development. Pat is a speech-language pathologist and
a certified educational diagnostician and has over 20 years of experience
in evaluation, developing goals and objectives for children with a
variety of educational exceptionalities and in training others in
assessment and goal setting. Pat maintains a core faculty position
for the New Mexico LEND Program, an interdisciplinary leadership education
program as well as an Adjunct Faculty Appointment at the Speech and
Hearing Sciences Department at the University of New Mexico. (505)

As Project Manager, Molly is responsible for daily management and
coordination of the program. Molly is an occupational therapist that
has 20 years of experience working with individuals, pediatric to

Elisa Sanchez Wilkinson, Family Specialist

As a Family Specialist, Elisa is responsible for developing and maintaining
outreach programs and networking opportunities for parents and families
of deaf/blind children and youth throughout the state of NM. As a
parent of a child with deafblindnes, she provides a strong link for
the Project to work closely with the families of NM with children
and youth who are deaf/blind. She has 15 years of nursing experience
working as a home health care nurse for medically fragile children,
working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, working with medical
records, and as a camp nurse for Easter Seals. (505) 272-8195
Rose Hessmiller, Ph.D. Information Technology

As the Information Technology Consultant, Rose is responsible for
the design, development and implementation of the project's website,
virtual communities, and distance learning endeavors including webcourse
design and development. Rose studied Special Education and Organizational
Learning and Educational Technologies with a concentration in Distance
Learning at the University of New Mexico. She has worked in the field
of special education with every level of disability and age group
in myriad professional environments including: psychiatric hospitals,
private and public schools, residential treatment centers, correctional
facilities, hospitals, and universities. Her Information Technology
efforts center on the development, cost analysis, and evaluation of
virtual environments for the medical and disability community. Her
professional focus is to bridge the medical community with emerging
technology tools by helping professionals and families assimilate
emerging technologies within their personal learning theories, pedagogy
and purpose. Her services include the development of dynamic websites,
web applications, and web courses; grants authoring; training; and
the creation of strategic technology plans and network operations
