Area of expertise/ contribution to project

M.A. in Special Education with emphasis on Learning Disabilities.  Twenty-one years experience as a Special Education Teacher/Administrator working with physically, cognitively, and learning disabled children.  Trainer in the Hand-In-Hand Curriculum.  Co-instructor of web-based course "Intro to Deafblindness."  Southern Satellite coordinator for previous state deafblind grant from 1993 to 1999, which included facilitating summer camps and providing technical assistance to deafblind children, families, and service providers.

Personal reason for working in this area and consulting to project

It has been a personal quest of David's since he started in special education 21 years ago that the most severely disabled students get the services that they deserve.  He also has a personal commitment to enlighten and educate new teachers as to the most effective ways to teach and interact with deafblind students.  He gets satisfaction from helping to fulfill the original intent of the Education Handicapped Act.
