Quiz 2 - Essay Questions

Answer ONLY ONE of the following questions, keep to a maximum of two pages:

  1. Van Dijk, a leader in the field of deaf-blindness, stated that self-stimulatory behaviors, such as clinging and self-clutching, are attempts to seek security by people who have not developed attachments with caregivers. If a student exhibits stereotypical behavior, it is important to analyze carefully all possible causes, including overstimulation or understimulation; .other sources of anxiety, such as the environment and caretakers; and health problems. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

  2. How is learning affected by a dual sensory deficit?

  3. Describe an incidental learning experience.

  4. Why do you think it is important to know or understand specific facts of a student's deaf-blindness? Is this knowledge enough to plan a student's program?
