If an unborn child is exposed to alcohol because his/her mother drinks during pregnancy, the child may be born with "FAS." FAS is a disorder characterized by abnormalities in physical and mental development as a result of prenatal alcohol exposure. FAS can affect the child's appearance (i.e., growth and/ or features) and his/her brain development (i.e., thought process and his behavior.)

Supportive assistance throughout the duration of early intervention services. Follow up services may determine the adequacy of past and present programs in meeting the needs of the child/ family. The services may also ascertain the readiness of the child to benefit from new programs.
