To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• Fourteen teachers attended and participated in the Curriculum Mapping follow up visit for K–3 teachers at Pueblo Pintado Community School that held this past Monday (September 18)
• Last Saturday, residential staff from the Chinle Agency attended the third class of the Level I Residential Training (ECME 115) at the Chinle Boarding School. There are two more Saturday classes scheduled for September 23 and 30.
• A one-day Reading Intervention Strategies training was conducted for seven teachers at the Little Singer Community School this past Wednesday (September 20).

Next week Friday on September 29, the final Friday Fax will be sent to the agencies and the schools. On September 30, the CSPD project will officially come to an end after four years of technical assistance and training support to schools and staff. We will provide a brief summary of the training and technical assistance provided in next week’s fax. A final newsletter will also be sent out next week.

Upcoming Events:

September 21–23, 2006

Meeting of the BIA Advisory Board for Exceptional Children is scheduled in Seattle, WA. A public comment call-in session is scheduled for Friday, September 22 from 1:15 pm–2:00 pm (MDST). To participate, please call toll free number (888) 387-8686; on prompt, enter 4274201. The Advisory Board looks forward to hearing from parents and educators.
