To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• The Reading Intervention Strategies training for K–3 teachers at Pueblo Pintado Community School that was originally scheduled for August 28 and September 6, 2006 has been rescheduled for September 11 due to a conflict in professional development scheduling.
• Last Saturday, nine residential staff from the Chinle Agency attended the first class of the Level I Residential Training (ECME 115) at the Chinle Boarding School. There are four more Saturday classes scheduled for September 9, 16, 23, and 30.
• Plans are underway to schedule Reading Intervention Strategies training for teachers at the Little Singer Community School.
• Approximately eight teachers participated in the Response to Intervention (RTI) training for teachers at Cove Day School (September 5).
• The English Language Learners (ELL) Teaching Strategies in Reading training for teachers was conducted at the Mariano Lake Community School on September 5.

Meeting of the BIA Advisory Board for Exceptional Children is scheduled in Seattle, WA. A public comment call-in session is scheduled on Friday, September 22 from 1:15pm–2:00pm (MDST).
