Date: August 18, 2006
From: Dr. Eugene R. Thompson
Director of Educational Leadership
To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided
as follows:
- The one-day Navajo Nation Parent Conference on Disabilities is around
the corner. The conference will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at
the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock from 8:00am–5:00pm. There
is still time for parents to register although the registration is filling
up rather quickly. Further information about the conference and registration
can be obtained by calling the toll free number (866) 341-9918. Completed
registration forms can be faxed to (928) 871-7865.
- The final on-site school visits to correction action schools will be
scheduled during the month of September to follow up on special education
professional development activities.
- Two professional development trainings, Six Traits of Writing Plus One
and Classroom Management, were conducted at the Cove Day School last week.
- Curriculum Mapping training was conducted for the school staff at the
Pueblo Pintado Community School last week.
- Schools may still contact us during the next month about how we might
help in facilitating a plan of work for your agency or school or for providing
training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present
scope of work.
