To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• The one-day Navajo Nation Parent Conference on Disabilities will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Navajo Nation Museum from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The conference is designed to provide information to families who have children with disabilities in schools. Further information about the conference and registration can be obtained by calling the toll free number (866) 341-9918. Completed registration forms can be faxed to (928) 871-7865.
• The third and final on-site school visits to correction action schools will be scheduled during the month of September to follow up on special education professional development activities. Letters will be sent out to each corrective action school during this month after the dates have been confirmed with the schools.
• On Friday, August 11, 2006, there will be no regular Friday Fax sent to the schools and agencies, however, we will be sending out an information and registration flyer for the upcoming Navajo Nation Parent Conference. Please share this flyer with all your teachers. The regular Friday faxes will resume on August 18.

If there are other agency or school offices that may have moved during the summer or if there are new personnel, we’d like your new addresses, phone numbers and fax numbers. We want to make sure that the agency and school offices receive the Friday faxes at your new locations.

Schools may still contact us during the next two months about how we might help in facilitating a plan of work for your agency or school or for providing training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.
