To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• Plans are underway for a one-week residential institute for dormitory staff from the Western Navajo Agency. A three-credit undergraduate course ( Educ 293 – Problems & Issues in Special Education) will be offered during July 17-21, 2006 at the Tuba City Boarding School. Presently, our NAU partner is contacting the WNA schools with residential programs about registration and the residential training. • The Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) has an excellent website at http://www.ed.gov/free. The website offers free resources for teachers and students in the areas of art, education technology, foreign languages, health/safety, language arts, math, physical education, science, social studies, and vocational education. Genetics and space science education and online workshops for teachers in math, science, and language arts are among the new resources at FREE. Check it out.

Schools may still contact us at any time regarding professional development training plans and/or activities for the current school year. Let us know how we might help in facilitating a plan of work for your agency or school or for providing training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.
