To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided
as follows:
- An on-site school visit (February 1) was conducted at the Black Mesa
Community School to discuss professional development activities for staff.
- The quarter meeting of the UNM and NAU CSPD projects was held at the
UNM-Gallup on February 2 to discuss project activities.
- Another website link for the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) training
on the Introduction to the Academic Articulated Standards in Arizona is
being provided: http://www.ade.az.gov/SBTL/default.asp.
When you get to the website, click on the website address listed in the
middle of the page. Then scroll down to Introduction to the Academic Articulated
Standards in Arizona and click choose and continue where you can register
online. We’ve been advised that the ADE has been having some problems
with their website. We hope this particular link is accessible for those
teachers and administrators who are interested in registering online.
- Follow-up technical assistance was provided to the Crystal Boarding School
principal in the development of the school’s spring training plan.
- The U.S. Department of Education has Federal Resources for Educational
Excellence (FREE) at website http://www.ed.gov/free.
The website lists teaching resources in various academic subject areas as
well as special collections. There are also excellent resources for students.

- Inclusion training for school staff at the T’iis Naz Bas Community
School.
- On-site school visit for needs assessment at the Dibe Yazhi Habitiin
Olta (Borrego Pass).
February 17, 2006.
- Curriculum alignment/mapping follow-up training for school staff at the
Cove Day School.
March 10, 2006.
- Introduction to the Academic Articulated Standards in Arizona training
for teachers and administrators at Sinagua High School mini auditorium in
