To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:
- Technical assistance was provided to Aneth Community School for the development
of a parent survey.
- A curriculum alignment training was conducted
today for the academic staff at Cove Day School.
- We are continuing to follow up with each agency to determine an interest
in a leadership conference this spring 2006.
- An Arizona Academic Standards training has
been scheduled for Bureau teachers (Ft. Defiance, Chinle and Western Navajo)
on March 10, 2006 at the Flagstaff Sinagua High School mini auditorium. The
staff from the Standards-Based Teaching and Learning Division of the Arizona
Department of Education will be conducting the training from 8:30 a.m.
to 11:30 p.m. This should be an excellent training that
will be very helpful and useful to the Bureau teachers. Registration
will be conducted via a website as soon as its available.
- Technical assistance
is still in progress with Crystal Boarding for a spring 2006 training on
teaching writing/math/science strategies.
- Technical assistance was provided
to the Ft. Defiance Agency on the development of a one-day training (February
21) for special education teachers on the topic Developing IEPs Using Data.

January 13, 2006. Curriculum Alignment training
for school staff at Cove Day School
January 17, 2006. Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center on-site
evaluation visit of our BIA/CSPD project.
February 6, 2006. Inclusion training
for academic staff at T’iisnazbas Community School.
March 10, 2006. – Arizona Academic Standards training for
teachers, Sinagua High School/Flagstaff mini auditorium, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30
a.m.
