To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
Welcome back from a well deserved winter break. This past week, training
and technical assistance was provided as follows:
- A meeting was held yesterday (January 5) with the Crystal Boarding School
principal to discuss and develop a draft-training plan for the academic
staff in the areas of teaching math, science and writing strategies.
- An on-site school visit was conducted today
at the Aneth Community School to discuss professional development training
activities for the academic staff.
- Before the winter break, an on-site school visit (December
14) was conducted at the Rock Point Community School. Discussions
were held with the Curriculum and Professional Development Specialist and
the Acting Elementary Principal regarding professional development activities
for the academic staff.
- Before the winter break, an on-site school visit (December
21) was conducted at the Na Neelzhiin Ji Olta for the purpose of conducting
a needs assessment for professional development activities for the academic
staff. The participants at the needs assessment meeting included the
school improvement team and the school principal. Further
discussions will be held with the school as the issues get prioritized.

January 13, 2006. Curriculum Alignment training
for school staff at Cove Day School
January 17, 2005. On-site evaluation visit
by Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center.
