To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
- This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:
The Friday fax for December 9 was not issued due to project staff illness.
Last week’s information is being combined in today’s fax edition.
- An on-site school visit to Aneth Community School that was originally
scheduled for December 19 will be rescheduled to a different date in January
2006.
- A meeting was held with the Ft. Defiance Agency special education coordinator
on December 5 to discuss and craft a training agenda for teachers on how
to gather and use data for lesson planning. Additional meetings will be
conducted to finalize a training agenda.
- The curriculum alignment training that was originally scheduled December
9, 2005 for Cove Day School has been rescheduled to January 13, 2006.
- Grades were submitted to the University of New Mexico-Gallup and New
Mexico State University this week for three classes conducted this semester
as follows: ECME 115-Guiding Young Children (Chinle Agency residential staff);
ECME 119-Emerging Literacy (Wide Ruins Community School paraeducators);
and Spec Educ 501-Topics in Special Education (Wide Ruins Community School
teachers). Participants can access their grades online through the respective
universities.
Upcoming Events:
December 23, 2005–January 2, 2006.
The ICOP project offices in Gallup and Albuquerque will be closed for Winter
Break
January 13, 2006.
Curriculum Alignment training for school staff at Cove Day School
January 17, 2005.
On-site evaluation visit by Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center.
Since our office will be closed after December 22, the next Friday fax won’t
be available until Friday, January 6, 2006. Until then, we sign off and have
a safe and fun two-week break.
