To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• The Improving Communities of Practice project continued to partner with New Mexico State University in the finalization of the syllabus for the three graduate credits and admission/registration materials for the upcoming Institute on Instructional Leadership. We anticipate that a final copy of the syllabus will be submitted to the Center for School Improvement early next week.
• The project continued to receive registrations from Fort Defiance Agency home-living assistants for the upcoming Positive Behavior Management Institute to be held at the UNM-Gallup during July 12–14, 2005. As of today, there are 55 HLAs registered.
• We also continued to follow-up with Wide Ruins Community School for providing professional development activities for their teachers this summer and fall in the areas of writing and reading strategies.
• The third quarter report to the Center for School Improvement was completed and will be submitted to CSI today.

Finally, you may contact us at any time regarding professional development training plans and/or activities for the current or future school years. We always look forward to hearing from you as to how we might facilitate a plan, including Project IDEAS, for your agency or school or for providing technical assistance or training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.

Positive Behavior Management training for Ft. Defiance Agency residential staff at the University of New Mexico-Gallup.

July 18–22, 2005.

Classroom Management training for Ft. Defiance Agency general/special education teachers (east cohort) at UNM-Gallup.

July 25–29, 2005.

Classroom Management training for Ft. Defiance Agency general/special education teachers (west cohort) at Seba Dalkai Boarding School.

July 26–28, 2005.

Residential staff training for Aztec Dormitory, Camp Verde.
