To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.

Current Events

This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:

• Provided technical assistance to BIA/OIEP/CSI for the registration of 86 home-living assistants for two college credits through UNM-Gallup who are participating in the BIA Residential Institute, June 6–10, 2005 in Albuquerque. The participants came from the states of Arizona (43), New Mexico (24), Oklahoma (6), and South Dakota (13).
• Provided technical assistance to the BIA/OIEP/CSI for the upcoming Institute on Instructional Leadership, July 25–29, 2005, Minneapolis in securing graduate credit.
• Provided technical assistance to the Shiprock Agency for the upcoming Residential Institute, June 27–July1 at the Tohaali Community School.
• Provided continuing follow-up to the Ft. Defiance Agency for the implementation of the Project IDEAS implementation/training plan.
• Follow-up letters were sent to Nenahnezad Community School, Mariano Lake Community School, Wide Ruins Community School, and T’iis Nazbas Community School in response to follow-up visits conducted to these schools within the past one and one-half weeks concerning professional development activities identified for school staff this summer and fall.

Finally, you may contact us at any time regarding professional development training plans and/or activities for the current or future school years. We always look forward to hearing from you as to how we might facilitate a plan, including Project IDEAS, for your agency or school or for providing technical assistance or training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.

Quarter meeting of the UNM-NAU Improving Communities of Practice and the Western Navajo Agency ELO and education specialists.

Teleconference for the planning of the Institute for Instructional Leadership.

June 27–July 1, 2005

Shiprock Agency Residential Institute @ Tohaali Community School.
