| The Autism Program currently supports Regional Family Specialists located throughout the state. Regional Family Specialists provide a crucial linkage to the communities in which they reside, often identifying local resources for families and assisting families in their area to navigate the local service system. Currently, FS's are in the following communities: Metro area, Northcentral Region, Northwest Region, Northeast Region, Southeast Region and the Southwest Region. Autism Programs is presently recruiting Family Specialists in the Clovis/Peralta areas of the state. Each community is unique; therefore, each Regional Family Specialist's job is different. The regional parent coordinators assess the needs of the families in their communities and attempt to support them in meeting their needs. Some common activities of the Regional Family Specialists is to be aware of the needs of local families, assist families in locating resources, attend meetings and receive on-going training. Regional Family Specialists are invited and supported to attend all Autism Programs sponsored trainings as a part of their on going professional development.
