BackgroundOn March 1, 1999 the NM Human Services Department published final regulations for approval and repairs of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. This action culminates over 5 years of effort spearheaded by the Assistive Technology Program (AT) at the Center for Development & Disability (CDD), the New Mexico Technology Assistance Program (NM TAP), NEWMAAC (New Mexico Association for Augmentative & Alternative Communication) and the Protection and Advocacy System of NM. The New Mexico Technology Assistance Program (NM TAP), will be providing training and technical assistance to support service providers and consumers in this important funding initiative.
