Hello, I am a special education teacher (max. services) at Highland High School. Today, I received some information about the NEWMAAC. This information stated that there would be an upcoming workshop at the VA Hospital. This information did not state the date of the conference.

If I receive permission from school to attend, I am very much interested. Could you please send me some more informaton via e-mail? Also, I am very much interested in finding out more information (e-websights and links) and training in such reading programs as The Wilson Reading Program, Orton-Gillingham, and Balanced Literacy.

Thanks and I hope to receive e-mail from your association soon.

I live in Rio Rancho and work in both school and Medicaid waiver settings. I love to garden and play with my kids. I was hoping to make contacts with people who have successfully navidated the Medicare and Medicaid funding maze.

I live in Belen, NM, I am 44 years old and I have Neurofibromatosis. I am married to a wonderful man. Last year my sister moved in with us to help take care of me. My husband works at night and she works during the day. I have many tumors all inside my body. I had 6 taken out of my brain stem 4 years ago. Until a few months ago I was able to walk with a cane, but now I can hardly walk at all. The tumors in my spine and pelvis cause too much pain. I used to love to oil paint but I have a difficult time holding my hand steady enough. Although I would love to try it again. I am not sure what this program is about, but I thought I would try it. I tried to collect Social Security but I was denied, and I can't understand why. I worked when I was young but could not work because of my disease. They say I didn't work long enough. I would like to find out if there are any kind of federal or state help I qualify for. At the moment I do not receive any payments. Fortunately, my husband has a good job (he works for the railroad) and has good insurance. I was told we can't even get the disabled tax credit because I don't collect disability payments. If anyone has any information that can help me, I would surely appreciate it. I also wanted to know where I can get one of those little motorized carts I can use to get around the house. I can't walk more than a couple of feet without experiencing excruciating pain and running the risk of falling down. Even a little jarring would cause extreme pain. I don't like to be so dependent on my poor husband and sister. I just want to be more independent. I need help and I just don't know where to turn. If anyone can give me any guidance I would appreciate it. Please don't think I am complaining, I know there are a lot of people out there who have it much worse than I do and I thank God everyday for giving me such a wonderful husband and family. Thank you for listening and God Bless you.
