The Family and Community Education in ASD (FACE) is a statewide technical assistance and training network for families, providers and other professionals. FACE is funded through the Long Term Services Division of the Department of Health, whose role is to support children 0-3 yrs. old and those 18 and older. FACE is staffed by parents and professionals with unique knowledge of the special needs of people with autism spectrum disorders. Staff provide information to families and professionals about services and resources in the community, conduct a variety of community training, and provide observation and recommendations to families and agencies to enable them to better understand and choose appropriate supports for a person with ASD. FACE is also a clearinghouse for up to date information regarding research, support, and programming ideas. Trained Regional Parent Coordinators provide information and family support throughout the state. For further information, phone 272-1852 or the Autism Program toll free number, 1-800-270-1861.
