To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided
as follows:
- In partnership with the Navajo Nation Office of Special Education &
Rehabilitation Services, plans are underway for the 2nd Annual Parent Conference
on Disabilities. The one-day conference will be held on Thursday, August
31, 2006 at the Navajo Nation Museum from 8:00am–5:00pm. The tentative
theme is: What’s New in Special Education. The conference is designed
to provide information to families who have children with disabilities in
schools. There will be a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, and a possible
panel discussion scheduled. Further information about the conference can
be obtained by calling the toll free number (866) 341-9918. The registration
forms will be forthcoming shortly as it is finalized. In the mean time,
mark your calendars and make plans for your parents who have children with
disabilities in your schools to attend this exciting parent conference.
Schools may still contact us about how we might help in facilitating a plan
of work for your agency or school or for providing training above and beyond
what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.
