To keep you updated with activities taking place through
the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax”
with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
Current Events
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided
as follows:
- An on-site visit (June 1) was conducted at the Wide
Ruins Community School to discuss with the school principal needs assessment
for staff professional development activities.
- Two on-site visits (June 2) were made at the Neenahnézad
Community School and T’iisnazbas Community School to discuss with
the head teacher and school principal respectively, needs assessment for
school staff professional development activities.
- An on-site visit to the Aneth Community School scheduled
for June 3 was postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date this month.
- Provided technical assistance to BIA/OIEP/CSI regarding
the BIA Residential Institute, June 6–17, 2005.
- Provided technical assistance to the Ft. Defiance Agency
special education coordinator and one school principal regarding the implementation
of Project IDEAS training plans for this summer.
- In consultation with the Ft. Defiance Agency special
education coordinator, the Behavior Management training for Fort Defiance
Agency residential staff was rescheduled from June 7–9 to July 12–14,
2005.
Finally, you may contact us at any time regarding professional
development training plans and/or activities for the current or future school
years. We always look forward to hearing from you as to how we might facilitate
a plan, including Project IDEAS, for your agency or school or for providing
technical assistance or training above and beyond what we have currently set
out to do in the present scope of work.

- Registration of participants for college credit at the
BIA Residential Institute.
June 21, 2005
- Quarter meeting of the UNM-NAU Improving Communities
of Practice and the Western Navajo Agency ELO and education specialists.
June 22, 2005
- Teleconference for the planning of the Institute for
Instructional Leadership.
June 27-July 1, 2005
- Shiprock Agency Residential Institute @ Tohaali Community
School.
