From: Dr. Eugene R. Thompson
Director of Educational Leadership
To keep you updated with activities taking place through the CSPD efforts on the Navajo Nation, I am sending you a “Friday Fax” with information about current and upcoming professional development activities.
This past week, training and technical assistance was provided as follows:
A presentation to the Ft. Defiance Agency school principals on the residential training for the agency was not conducted this week due to the principals’ meeting focus on the budget.
The registration this week for the Level II Ft. Defiance Agency residential training for home-living assistants resulted in 42 registrations and we anticipate additional registrations to come in. The five-credit Spec Ed 201 and Spec Ed 204 classes start tomorrow, February 5, 2005 at the UNM-Gallup campus. A big thank you goes to each school principal who helped with the coordination of registration for their dormitory staff.
We are very happy that Ms. Genevieve Begay has joined the Improving Communities of Practice project this week at the Institute for Human Development/Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. In addition to her orientation this week, she already participated in the UNM/NAU teleconference and will also be in attendance at the Dennehotso Boarding School residential class this Saturday. In her new role, she will be coordinating professional development activities in the Chinle and Western Navajo Agencies. Her telephone number is listed at the end of this fax. Welcome Genevieve and she is looking forward to visiting the schools in the very near future.
Finally, you may contact us at any time regarding professional development training plans and/or activities for the current or future school years. We always look forward to hearing from you as to how we might facilitate a plan for your agency or school or for providing technical assistance or training above and beyond what we have currently set out to do in the present scope of work.
